Sunny Island SMA and Solar MD Lithium-Ion battery has maximum flexibility, from operation in remote off-grid areas to commercial or home energy management.

Certainly trusted in the harshest environments in Africa.
Can Bus (500kbit/s) is used between Solar MD Logger V2 and Sunny Island, also requires SMA translator software for digital control from the battery.
Please read the installation manual of SMA Sunny Island carefully if you are installing Sunny Island for first time.

Minimum required hardware:
Battery modules required – 1x SS4074 / SS202 (7.4kWh) are installed per Sunny Island 4.4M. Similarly
2x SS4074 / SS202 (7.4kWh) per Sunny Island 6.0H/8.0H. This is important due to the maximum discharge current of the inverter.

Digital control Configuration – SMA Sunny Island Bridge software on Logger V2.
Proceed to the Solar MD portal (http://login.mypower24.co.za) and select SunnyIsland Bridge on CAN 2:
Sunny Island Bridge for Logger V2 CAN BUS
Menu path: My Devices → Logger → Interfaces →CANBUS 2.
Choose the SunnyIsland Bridge and proceed with a software reboot on the Logger V2 under the “System Settings” tab.
You will need to connect to the SMA Sunny Island inverter via SMA web UI to set up your system.
Please watch this video to find out how to configure your Sunny Island inverter:
On step 7 select “Battery configuration” and choose Lithium-Ion. Enter the Ah of the installed battery system.
Finally the standard settings are set to 70% battery Depth of Discharge during the day and night.
CAN Communication:
For connection between Logger V2 and Sunny Island. Only the inverter must be connected to Logger V2.
