MLT AND SOLAR MD

MLT inverters with Solar MD Lithium-Ion batteries have been tested and certified by both MLT and Solar MD R&D departments.

Both Products are locally manufactured in South Africa.

For this installation Logger V2 and active internet access during the commissioning is a requirement.

The maximum Charge and discharge power of the inverter should be considered.

Supported models via CAN BUS: Oasis (5h48 / 8H48) and  Powerstar (10H) (model 2019)

For older Powerstar models please contact MLT support for setting up the charge/discharge limits via Relay 1 and Relay 2 of Logger V2.

Oasis Inverter

Oasis inverter range is a low voltage transformer based inverter, therefore a robust and safe product.

Trusted in the harshest environments in Africa.

Can Bus (500kbit/s) is used between Solar MD Logger  V2 and  Oasis , also requires MLT translator software for digital control

from the battery.

Minimum required hardware:

Battery modules required – 1x SS4074 SS202 (7.4kWh) are installed per Oasis 5H48.  Similarly 2x SS4074 / SS202 (7.4kWh) per Oasis 8H48.  This is important due to the maximum discharge current of the Oasis.

CAN Communication:

For connection between Logger V2, Oasis and Nomad MPPT.  Furthermore only the inverter must be connected to Logger V2.

Menu path:  My Devices → Logger → Interfaces →CANBUS 2.

Secondly choose Oasis Bridge and proceed with a software reboot on the Logger V2 in the Tab “System Settings”.

On the Oasis display enter the code “1918” in order to access the battery setup in the settings menu.

Choose “setup as lithium” and set the CAN bus speed to 500kbit/s.

Menu path:  Settings → Battery Setup → Set up as lithium.

Finally, the standard settings are set to 80% battery Depth of Discharge during the day and the night.

You will be able to see the Solar MD logo, state of charge in “%” and kWh on the Oasis dashboard display.

Powerstar Inverter

Powerstar inverter range is a low voltage transformer based inverter, therefore a robust and safe product.

Trusted in the harshest environments in Africa.

Can Bus (500kbit/s) is used between Solar MD Logger V2 and  Powerstar and requires MLT translator software for digital control

from the battery.

Minimum required hardware:

The Logger V2 interfaces with each Battery Management System as well as with Powerstar.  Multiple inverter in parallel (read parallel Installation Guide).  Multiple batteries in parallel are supported.

Minimum Battery modules required – 2x SS4074 SS202 (7.4kWh) per Powerstar installed.

CAN Communication:

For connection between Logger V2, Powerstar and Nomad MPPT, only the inverter must be connected to Logger V2.

Menu path:  My Devices → Logger → Interfaces →CANBUS 2.

Secondly choose Oasis Bridge and proceed with a software reboot on the Logger V2 in the Tab “System Settings”.

Settings can be changed on the Powerstar display.

The standard settings are set to 80% battery depth of Discharge during the day and the night.
