Solar MD – Microcare configuration for Lithium-Ion battery

Microcare and Solar MD Lithium-Ion battery has been tested with most 48V models and allows for system capacities from 1kVA to 300 kVA and up to 2 MWh Lithium-Ion storage.

  • off-grid systems

  • battery charger only

  • current injector

  • support to an AC source

The Solar MD Lithium-Ion battery system includes an integrated Battery Management System (BMS) within each battery module and requires a Logger V2 in order to interface with the Microcare devices.

To find out how to install the Solar MD Logger V2, watch this YouTube installation video.

Charge parameters for Solar MD Lithium-Ion batteries
In normal operation the charge parameters are controlled by the Solar MD Logger V2 and are communicated through the system by a lithium-Ion interface 4 pin socket to the inverter/charger and MPPT.  However as a precaution it is advised to set the suggested settings below.

Lithium-Ion programmable Relays for Microcare control from Solar MD:

Note: Solar MD relays on the Logger V2 are not configured by default.  It is recommended to configure the relays before installation by connecting Logger V2 to a power supply and internet.  If you don’t have a profile, please contact your distributor or Solar MD support team.

Step 1) Go to the Solar MD monitoring platform and adopt your Logger V2:

Step 3) Go to Settings > Under Controlling Method, select "Expression" and click "Set".

Step 4) Set Relay 1 on Logger V2 on Charge control (Settings > Add Expression).

  • Add expression for ON:  ES Control Service / Output ES control / bus0 / Charge Control less than 40

If this condition is achieved Relay 1 will open (MPPT and the inverter will stop charging).

  • Add expression for OFF:  ES Control Service / Output ES control / bus0 / Charge Control greater than 99 (with delay 300s).

OFF-Expression.png
  • Add expression to secure the position of the Relay NC.

Step 5) Set Relay 2 on Logger V2 on Discharge control (Settings > add Expression).

  • Add expression for ON:  ES Control Service / Output ES control / bus0 / Discharge Control less than 60

Step 6) Connection between Logger V2, Microcare Inverter and MPPT.

*Please make sure that the Microcare devices are ordered with lithium-Ion interface 4 pin socket.
