Founded in Cape Town in 2014, Solar MD designs and manufactures energy storage that is now deployed in more than 50 countries.
Who We Are.
Solar MD designs and manufactures lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) energy storage in Cape Town, from home batteries to a 6.5 MWh container. We manufacture at Richmond Park with an in-house battery management system and CATL cells. Systems integrate with major inverter brands on low and high voltage, on-grid or off-grid with solar, wind or diesel.
Built for residential, commercial, industrial and utility sites: backup, self-consumption, peak shaving, energy shifting and hybrid power.
Open architecture. Backward compatible since 2016. Field-serviceable modules on a 12-year warranty on covered systems. BMS, BMU, Logger and mypower24, designed together in Cape Town.
